Elves
Though the Elves have lands of their own, there is significant interaction between them and the people of Novaria. The different sub-races of Elves have similar lifespans, speak dialects of the same language and share the pantheon of
deities. Despite having these things in common, they also have several different cultural and physical traits.

Description
Erian Elves have fair complexions that belie their actual exposure to the elements. About a head shorter than their human counterparts, Erian Elves have wiry frames and even those who possess greater than average strength tend towards tone rather than
bulk. Erian Elves have silvery or blonde hair that both genders wear long. While facial hair is not common, a few Erian Elf males have been known to grow wisps of hair from their chins, never numbering greater than ten
strands. Erian Elves have eyes of turquoise, blue or green.
Origins
After blight affected the animals and trees of their Elven homeland, the Erian Elves set out to mainland beyond the Sylvan forest. When the Erian Elves came into the lands now known as Novaria, they first settled among the resident
Clasbron. When the Nostrians came into the lands, many of the Erian Elves were captured and sold into slavery across the Nostrian Empire.
Views
Up until recent years, the Erian Elves have maintained decent relations with various human cultures. Erian Elves living among the Latinians enjoyed their luxurious lifestyle and had a deep appreciation of Latinian artistic
achievements. The bond between the Erian Elves and the Clasbron has existed for centuries. The Erian Elves retain a deep feeling of kinship with the Clasbron due to their earthiness and respect for nature. Relations with the Futhark had never been extremely cordial due to Futhark clannishness and only the most aggressive, courageous and loyal Erians have been accepted by Futhark
society. For this reason, the Erian Elves tend to view the Futhark as cold, unapproachable and a tad barbaric.
Relations with the Dwarves have always been tense based on a deep racial animosity between Elves and Dwarves. Truth be told, before the coming of the Dwarves to Novaria, few Erian Elves had even seen a Dwarf for
generations. Among the Halflings, Erian Elves share the strongest bond with the Tallfellow whom they have been trading with for centuries. The Erian Elves also enjoy swapping stories and watching the performances of passing Tallfellow caravans.
Among their own kind, Erian Elves hold their Sylvan ilk as uncouth, overly reclusive and unable to appreciate human accomplishments. The Grugach are viewed as little more than savage animals, depraved maniacs with no regard for culture or objects of beauty.
Of all the races of Novaria, none have a stronger hatred for the evil humanoids than the Erian Elves. Elves and Orcs have been fighting an ageless feud, both sides bent on the mutual destruction of the other. Because Novaria has been a buffer between Elven and Orcish lands, Erian Elves have born the brunt of Orcish aggression against
Elves. Kobolds, Goblins and Hobgoblins, despite being despicable beings in their own right, are seen as little more than a nuisance by the Erian Elves.
Culture
Erian Elves are the most common Elves in Novaria. They have adopted many human customs and most have made their homes in human settlements. Those that don't live among the humans tend to reside in small forest communities that are exclusively
Elven. Because of the current Elf War, however, many elves are being persecuted and the majority of Erian Elves have fled Novaria to their own island north of Sylvanus. Most of the remaining Erian Elves live in Clasbron owned lands, where people are most sympathetic to the Elven cause.
Among Erian Elves, males and females are considered equals. There are no specific tasks or chores relegated to members of either gender, as is customary in many human cultures. Erian Elven females are just as likely to be warriors and leaders as are Erian Elven
males. Likewise, there are just as many Erian Elven male seamers and homemakers as there are female. Being among the humans, the Erian Elves have become accustomed to monogamous relationships generally taking one partner for their lifetime.
Generally, Erian Elves worship the gods the of the Elven pantheon. They tend not to build churches or temples, but rather solitary shrines to their deities where priests and worshippers can meet if need
be. Although corporate worship at shrines is more common among Erian Elves than others of their kind, it is still standard practice to worship individually in areas considered sacred by the Elven deities.
Most Erian Elves worship Corellon Larethian as their primary deity and may pay homage to other deities as conditions necessitate, but there are some who esteem other Elven deities higher than Corellon.
