Humanoids
Since Tiel's rebellion, an influx of humanoids has come within Novaria's borders seeking hire as mercenaries and regulars in special military units. The majority of these humanoids delight in imposing their authority on the masses, while others just enjoy spreading general
mayhem. A select few of these monsters have left the path of evil and fight against the evil
caused by others of their kind. Though they may hold respectable positions in society, humanoids are still seen by the general populace as a blight on the kingdom.

Description
Ondonti
resemble primitive humans with gray-green skin covered with coarse brown
to black hair. Ondonti eyes
run the same color range as human eyes, but with a reddish tint. They usually dress in plain, simple clothing but maintain a special
dressier set for worship.
Origin
The
Ondonti were once as sadistic as other orc tribes from the Arkonian
badlands until they were bested by a pacifist monk and taught how to live
in peace.
Views
Ondonti
are pacifists and get along well with most other races. Though they abhor violence, the Ondonti do employ various
protective measures to ensure their safety against the more brutal races
that mean them harm. They respect Latinian culture, but are wary of
the vices of urban living. They admire the simple living style of
the Clasbron, but do not understand their recklessness or need for combat. Ondonti have a hard time understanding the Futhark love for
conflict and their relatively distant relationship with their deities. The austerity of the Dwarven persona is esteemed among the
Ondonti, but Dwarven avarice is taught to be a dangerous vice. Ondonti bear no ill will towards Elves, but avoid them less they be
mistaken for Orcs. Ondonti enjoy a trading relationship with
Halflings, but caution their children not imitate the Halfling lifestyle
by biding their time with idleness. Ondonti are wary of other
humanoids in general, though they believe that all may shed their
malicious ways and live in peace with the land and one another. Above all, they extend an open invitation to their Orcish brethren to
leave the violence of the hordes and join their communities. This
unconditional faith in the redemption of their brethren has lead to the
destruction of numerous Ondonti communities.
Culture
Ondonti
live in small rural settlements, often on a fief of noble land. Their rustic cottages in many ways resemble the local human
architecture though their woodwork is rough hewn and their artwork primitive. A well-respected
community elder typically governs an Ondonti settlement; though should the
community disagree with an action taken by the elder they may ask their
clan elders to bring a grievance against the elder and put pressure on him
to change or nominate a new elder from amongst themselves.
Like
the other humanoids, male Ondonti are heads of their household. The males do much of the manual labor and the females do many of
the domestic chores. Though
there are those who have chosen not to follow this tradition, it is
uncommon and not generally seen as a disruption in Ondonti society. Another trait that Ondonti share with their humanoid kin is polygamy. One Ondonti male may take many Ondonti females for wives. These marriages are always consensual and the individuals involved
tend to treat each other with love and respect. The Ondonti do not keep slaves as they enjoy doing their own work
and view idleness as taboo.
Ondonti
are very religious and attend structured worship services with regularity. They have forsaken the old Orcish deities and commonly worship
human agricultural deities as well as deities that espouse peace and harmony. Each community will typically have a small, modest church for
weekly services. |
