Description
Clasbron tend to have lighter colored eyes, but run the gamut of hair colors with the darker colors found among those from the southern regions of Novaria. The Clasbron often wear plaid trousers and tunics and fond of jewelry of all
sorts. [Top]
Origins
The Clasbron are descended from the first human inhabitants of Novaria and are related to the Danaan peoples living south of the Cymbrian Mountains. [Top]
Views
The Clasbron people don't trust Latinians, seeing them as pompous, scheming politicians and incorrigible hedonists trying to milk the Kingdom to
whatever advantage they can obtain. Though they are wary of the Futhark with their introverted society, they respect the Futhark's courage in battle and their community-oriented values. The Clasbron have a peculiar relationship with the Elves and view them as otherworldly creatures and behold
them with equal amounts of awe, respect and mistrust. Though there are Dwarves in the Cymbrian Mountains, many Clasbron have never seen a Dwarf. For those Clasbron who are familiar with Dwarves and Dwarven culture, the Dwarves are a cold, remote race who can forge a good weapon and
brew great ale. Orcs, Goblins and Kobolds are all familiar to the Clasbron and all are equally despised. Only those humanoids who prove themselves
worthy are accepted among the Clasbron but when they are, they command a great respect as is evident by the founding of the town of Garrett Stone, a
humanoid refuge in the heart of Clasbron lands.
Politically, the Clasbron are generally moderate in support of the King. They walk a fine line between treason and flattery, biding their time until they
can put one of their own nobles on the throne or can become an independent kingdom in their own right. Clasbron nobles have no designs on
expanding their territory outside petty feuds or marriage arrangements. Despite the tense relationship between King Tiel and the Elves, many
Clasbron nobles have an unwritten understanding with nearby Elven tribes that provides for peaceful interaction between the two races. [Top]
Culture
The Clasbron view the written word as sacred, and only fit for usage by Druids, Clerics and Monks. Consequently, most Clasbron cannot read or write
and are not inclined to learn. Even among the Clasbron aristocracy is literacy rare, and the few that have learned how to read only do so in the
Nostrian script so that they may avoid being taken advantage of by devious lawyers and diplomats from other regions.
Like their ancestors and their cousins south of the mountains, the Clasbron are an easygoing people who believe in hard work and hard play. Clasbron bards and druids are among the most renown in Novaria and their warriors fight without
fear. Men and women are seen pretty much as equals throughout Clasbron society, though there are occupations and activities that are generally more
associated with males then females and vice versa. Though it is not common, Clasbron custom allows for women to take an active part in all aspects
of society, including running business and owning property.
The Clasbron nobility are descendants of ancient Danaan clan chieftains. Their positions are mostly hereditary and their vassals are distant relatives. For this reason, Clasbron nobles have more of a parent/child relationship with the peasantry, though not all parents treat their children kindly.
The Clasbron worship the deities of their Danaan ancestors. They gather for worship in community churches which are staffed by clerics of different deities. Druids are key figures in Clasbron religion and are chosen by the reigning Druid in the region at birth and raised as the Druid's
own. [Top]
