Freya is the daughter of Njord, twin sister to Frey. She is the
mistress of magic and granter of luxury. Whereas Odin is lord
of the magic of words, Freya cultivates the magic within. Though she has
influence over relationships, she is not a soft deity and is as capable a
warrior as many of the other deities of Asgard.
Dogma
Those
who worship Freya adorn themselves with the finest vestments and jewelry they
can afford. They are taught that attraction is not just skin deep, but can
be bought as well. Wealth and fineries are signs that one is capable of
providing and that they are successful in their
life's endeavors. Her worshippers are expected to be passionate in all
their endeavors. Freya's teachings
also warn that one's generosity should match their status and that though it is
encouraged to hold one's own countenance in high regard, one should not do so at
the expense of others.
Clergy
Clerics
who serve Freya often act as financial advisors for the community and confidants
for those who find themselves in love. They counsel the poor on how to gain wealth and they counsel the wealthy on
their investments and how to use their wealth for the good of the community. Many of Freya's clerics are gifted sorcerers or warriors and
frequently train other such gifted individuals. Freya's clerics
adorn themselves in fine jewelry and wear cassocks the color of amber. Freya's clerics prefer serving in chapels that face the east to welcome in the
setting sun. When a church is pastored by a cleric of Freya, it is
commonly decorated with golden fineries, lit with many candles and awash with
sweet incense.
