Hoder is a tragic deity.  Throughout his existence, Hoder has been tricked into a variety of calamities.  He lost his sight in battle and is destined to slay his brother, Balder, with the only thing capable of doing him any harm.  However, Hoder is among those prophesied to return from death after Ragnarok.

Dogma

The worship of Hoder draws those people who have experienced personal tragedy and loss.  They are expected to make the best with what they have inspite of any disabilities they may have or any setbacks they may experience.  Hoder's faithful believe that the Norns have allotted their suffering to serve a greater purpose and that ultimately they will be rewarded for their pains.

Clergy

Hoder's clergy don cassocks of the darkest black.  Many blind, lame or otherwise handicapped individuals seek a life of service to Hoder.  They tend to the less fortunate of the community, encouraging them and educating them on how to use their abilities to overcome hardships.  Fugitives from the law who have been wrongly accused or duped into commiting crimes often come to Hoder's clerics for support, guidance and protection.  A church pastored by a cleric of Hoder tends to have very little in way of decor, as a good portion of the offering is given back to the community.
