Cernunnos is the
untamed god of the wilderness. Mainly
a deity of Druids, Cernunnos only concerns himself with the condition of the
wilderness and its maintenance. He
is neither cruel nor benign, allowing nature to take its course.
Dogma
Cernunnos’ followers
are taught to fend for themselves and their children. Those that worship Cernunnos believe that everyone has a role to play in
nature, the hunter or the hunted. The
role of the hunter is to find and kill its prey, the role of the hunted it to
stay alive. He admonishes his
devotees to not let nature become imbalanced, lest the world is destroyed and to
always be vigilant towards those who would cause harm to the forests.
Clergy
Robes of Forest Green
and Silver are indicative of a Cleric of Cernunnos. They bless hunters and offer prayers for an abundance of wild animals. Many Clerics of Cernunnos serve as diplomats between the Clasbron and
other denizens of the wood. They
work closely with the Druids, ensuring that the people respect and care for the
environment and that the area is not over hunted.
Druids favor Cernunnos
almost more than any other deity. Their
sanctuaries are located in forested thickets and difficult to reach. The sanctuaries have a peaceful calm about them, yet have a strange sense
of foreboding. The primary duty of
the Druids of Cernunnos is the calling of the Wild Hunt in times of need, which
involves the ritual sacrifice of a living volunteer.
