The
Chief deity of the Danaan pantheon, the Daghda is a happy-go-lucky agricultural deity. He is concerned with
protecting his people and meeting their needs.
Dogma
The
Daghda teaches his followers to provide for the less fortunate with food, water,
clothing or shelter. Followers of
the Daghda are encouraged to live simply so that they do not place an
unnecessary burden on others. They
are expected to be examples of virtue and are called to be leaders in the
community.
Clergy
Clerics
of the Daghda are seen wearing simple brown robes, but always have a silver and
gold torc around their neck. They oversee the protection of crops and use their
gifts to ensure a good harvest, often out in the fields working alongside the peasantry. In more urban settings,
Daghda’s clerics provide food and shelter to the homeless and dispossessed.
The
Daghda’s Druids usually tend to work closer with parish churches than do other Druids. The sanctuaries of
Daghda’s Druids are simple affairs but are rich with resources such as water,
fish and fruit or nut bearing plants. Every
sanctuary has a hot cauldron full of food ready to feed any who happen upon the
Druid’s demesne.
Monasteries
dedicated to the Daghda tend to be plain structures with very little embellishment. The Daghda’s monks
often take vows of poverty. Their meditations focus on humility and how they
could give more of themselves.
