Aphrodite is a fickle
goddess of love and beauty. Though
she is often portrayed as laughing and smiling, she is extremely vain and
punishes mortals who compare their beauty to hers.
Dogma
Followers of
Aphrodite present her with gifts of artwork and perfumes in hopes that she will
bless them with beauty or love. Her
clerics preach of love to be given freely and of beauty to be admired. Her worshippers heap praises upon those things that are pleasing to the
eye and show great disdain for those which are unsightly.
Clergy
Aphrodite’s
churches function as clergy sponsored brothels. Church prostitutes of both genders are always present and eager to see to
the needs of visiting parishioners. Aphrodite’s
clergy dress in provocative gowns of white and red and will often entertain
important individuals seeking the churches assistance. A church dedicated to Aphrodite is lavishly decorated with fine cloths
and textiles with the many gifts presented to Aphrodite on display. Aside from providing carnal pleasures, Aphrodite’s clerics also counsel
the lovelorn, mediate lover’s spats and assist in achieving the object of
one’s desire. Because of their
penchant for gossip, clerics of the love-goddess are virtual fonts of knowledge
about current affairs, both public and private.
