Athena, the eldest of Zeus’s children, is worshipped as the goddess of wisdom, crafts and battle. She is typically good natured and generous to her worshippers, but is often seen as strict and demanding as well.
Dogma
Athena’s most devoted disciples value the principles of honor, purity and order. She expects her worshippers to act as models of decorum by maintaining discipline at all times, resisting natural urges and not to succumbing to frivolous
lifestyles. Alone among the Olympian deities, Athena encourages teamwork and community building. Many of her followers seek to expand their learning and most show some ability in the arts or crafts.
Clergy
Athena’s clerics wear gray robes and are often recruited as private tutors. They patronize institutions of learning, serving as professors or teachers of various craftworks. All are required to remain chaste until
married. Those that do marry remain clerics, but are unable to advance any farther in the church. Her churches are solid edifices of austere beauty, decorated with marble statuary and modest artwork and serve as a final bastion of
defense. All monks in Athena’s service are female. Confining themselves to stark monasteries, they take strict vows of chastity and continually seek to discipline their minds and bodies so they may defend themselves and others at a moments
notice. Athena is the only Olympian deity to sponsor an order of Paladins. Though male and female, they are required to take vows of chastity. They are exemplars of chivalry and virtue and are stalwart in their defense of the populace.
