Often referred to as "the gift giver", Demeter is the goddess of agriculture and the changing seasons. Winter is attributed to her weeping over her daughter
Persephone's return to the Underworld for three months and her disposition fluctuates with the seasons.
Dogma
Demeter is a popular deity among the rural peasantry. She expects sacrifices and prayers of thanksgiving in exchange for her blessing among the crops. She teaches her followers to appreciate her gifts and to
treat the land they come from with the utmost respect. Her most devout followers are expected to make a pilgrimage to Sitirichrys and partake of the Sitirichrystine mysteries.
Clergy
Demeter's clerics spend most of their time wandering the fields, giving assistance where necessary. They bless the fields during spring planting ceremonies and oversee the harvest in the autumn. Every five
years or so, Clerics take their flock on a pilgrimage to Sitirichrys. Their robes of green and gold represent the color of the fields in spring and autumn. Her cathedral in Regal is a grand, ornate building in
stark contrast to the majority of Demeter's churches which are humble structures erected to serve small farming community.
Many druids revere Demeter and support agricultural communities, ensuring that the people live in harmony with the lands they cultivate. Their sanctuaries are found in cultivated fields marked with bushels of
grains.
