Nike is the winged
goddess of Victory. As a demigod,
Nike only concerns herself with conflict and triumph. Both deities of war, Ares and Athena, seek to woo Nike to
their side though Nike more often favors Athena’s well laid out battle plans
to Ares’ lust for combat and blood schemes.
Dogma
Nike teaches victory
through hard work, training and courage. She
despises cheating in all of its forms and expects all competition to be conducted
in a fair and honest manner.
Clergy
Though Nike has no
churches of her own, shrines to her can be found in churches dedicated to either
Athena or Ares. Shrines to Nike are
also commonly found in arenas and other fields of competition, old battlefields
and in the houses of victorious nobles and generals. Each of these shrines are served by a cleric of Nike where they council
worshippers on achieving victory. Many
of Nike's clerics also serve as chaplains to athletic teams and armies. Nike's clerics are often called upon to punish those found cheating during
a competition. When performing
clerics functions, Nike's clerics wear robes of silver and blue. Their holy symbol, a pair of wings, is often worn as an amulet, a brooch
or a cloak clasp.
Monasteries dedicated
to Nike are run as athletic training grounds. Her monks tend to be athletes of the highest order and focus their
training more on body over mind.
