Zeus is the king of
the Olympian deities. He is
good-natured except when he is moved to wrath, at which time he displays his
anger as a powerful thunderstorm. Thankfully,
these outbursts are short lived and Zeus soon returns to his typical jovial
self.
Dogma
Zeus expects his
followers to accept things as the will of Zeus. His clerics teach that Zeus consents all that happens. They also teach that people are to show deference to their rulers, for it
is by Zeus’ consent that they rule. Many
Latinian oaths are made in Zeus’ name so that Zeus is watching each party
involved, ensuring that the oath is kept faithfully.
Clergy
Zeus’ clergy carry
themselves with an air of importance. Much
of their regal appearance is due to the blue and silver robes they wear. Zeus’ clerics perform coronations and officiate at the inaugurations of
elected or appointed officials. Rulers
who are not so recognized by a cleric of Zeus often find themselves with a
revolt on their hands. Most people
are reluctant to support a noble who has been refused to be blessed by Zeus and
Zeus’ clerics have little trouble stirring up resistance to anyone who claims
a crown in spite of this. Many
clerics of Zeus serve as advisors to the nobility. All Clerics of Zeus are male. A
cleric of Zeus who wishes to climb the church hierarchy marries a cleric of Hera. Zeus’s churches are grand
and immodest buildings. All are
ornately decorated and most feature a large statue of Zeus in the sanctuary.
